Job Title: Alumnae Relations/Donor Development Specialist

Our mission is to inspire and equip high school and college young women with the skills to succeed in finance and careers related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). We achieve this by providing investment literacy programs, mentorship, and access to real-world career opportunities.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Alumnae Relations/Donor Development Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in building and nurturing relationships with our alumnae and donors, organizing impactful events, and supporting our fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for event planning, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to our mission. We are looking for a seasoned professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Alumnae Relations:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive alumnae engagement strategy to maintain and strengthen relationships with RTSWS graduates.
    • Plan and execute alumnae events, including networking opportunities, career workshops, and mentorship programs.
    • Manage an alumnae database to track engagement and support ongoing communication efforts.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to produce newsletters, social media content, and other communications tailored to alumnae.
  • Donor Development:
    • Assist in developing and executing a strategic plan to identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate sponsors.
    • Plan and coordinate donor appreciation events, fundraisers, and other special events to engage and recognize supporters.
    • Prepare reports and presentations for donor meetings, board meetings, and internal reviews.
  • Event Planning:
    • Lead the planning and execution of events for alumnae and donors, ensuring each event aligns with RTSWS’s mission and goals.
    • Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, catering, invitations, registration, and on-site management.
    • Develop event budgets, manage expenses, and ensure events are delivered within budget.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful event delivery.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Provide excellent customer service to alumnae, donors, and other stakeholders, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Work closely with the executive team to identify opportunities for program improvement and growth.
    • Represent RTSWS at external events and conferences to promote our mission and programs.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • 7 -10 years of experience in event planning, alumni relations, donor development, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for the mission of RTSWS and a commitment to empowering young women.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a nonprofit or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and event management tools.
  • Proven track record of successful event planning and donor engagement.

We are hiring a Donor Development Coordinator who will be responsible for organizing and executing our fundraising efforts. The qualified candidate will work with various organizations to secure funding and sponsorships. They will assist department leaders in developing and maintaining donor relationships and securing new ones.

Who We Are

Rock The Street, Wall Street (RTSWS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit making a big impact. Our financial and investment literacy program is designed to bring both gender and racial equity to the financial markets and spark the interest of a diverse population of high school girls into careers in the M of STEM – finance. Our programming is offered in over 60 high schools in 30 cities across the U.S., U.K. and Canada.  

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Create Long-Term Plans 

  • Design comprehensive fundraising plans focused on generating revenue, encouraging participation, and used as a general blueprint by all involved organization department

Maintain Donor Relationships

  • Meet with major donors, via in-person, video calls, phone calls, and emails 
  • Update regularly on recent events, happenings, and changes

Secure New Donors

  • Implement strategies to encourage sponsorship and giving from new donors 
    • Host outreach events 
    • Networking
    • Participate in grant writing process

Monitor Data  

  • Track and monitor all activity, relationships, and donations using Salesforce

Additional Skills 

  • Self-motivated team player that thrives on accomplishing goals, achieving results and improving organization’s bottom line
  • Draft effective written and verbal communication for internal and external purposes
  • Assure the quality and effectiveness of the RTSWS donor development program
  • Actively develop and manage donor relationships and communication
  • Communicate and report accurate metrics and progress with informative analysis to internal stakeholders weekly
  • Ensure all projects are properly executed and complete for fluid transition through internal processes
  • Manage program goals, scope, schedules and resources to confirm timelines are aligned across multiple departments 
  • Proficient and effective use of technology and software to streamline and deliver responsibilities

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Public Administration, Business or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of donor development, fundraising, or sales experience
  • Embrace our mission, comfortably working with people from financial services, Diversity and Inclusion (D&I, ERG), family foundations and private donors.
  • Strong problem solving skills; strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • History of local community engagement and/or leadership positions.
  • Prior experience in a goal driven environment

Location: Brentwood, TN (in the Greater Nashville Area) 

Travel: 20 – 30%, seasonally 

Time Commitment: 40 hours/week

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop Comprehensive Fundraising Strategies: Design and implement multi-year fundraising plans aligned with RTSWS’s mission and goals.
  • Cultivate Relationships: Identify and cultivate relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations, securing multi-year, million-dollar partnerships.
  • Lead Fundraising Efforts: Serve as the lead fundraiser, carrying a portfolio of high-value donors and prospects.
  • Innovate Fundraising Techniques: Leverage digital platforms and design campaigns, events, and immersive experiences to generate financial support.
  • Stewardship and Gift Recognition: Develop a stewardship program ensuring exceptional donor cultivation, recognition, engagement, and retention.
  • Reporting: Produce reports on fundraising progress for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Marketing: Partner with marketing and communications staff to create compelling narratives for support.

Reporting Relationships

The Chief Development Officer will report to the Chief Executive Officer, Ashley Leftwich, and will oversee a team of approximately three staff members.

  • Commitment to RTSWS’s mission.
  • Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategies.
  • Ability to respond to trends in philanthropy with innovative and nimble fundraising programs.

  • Proven experience as a frontline fundraiser.
  • Superior relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to recruit, lead, mentor, and retain a team of high-performing fundraisers.
  • Understanding of the financial industry sector.
  • Ability to develop fundraising metrics, budgets, and reports.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; at least seven years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including management responsibilities.

Location

Rock The Street, Wall Street prefers candidates residing in the Greater Metropolitan Nashville Area. Staff are in the office three days a week. RTSWS will consider candidates with experience managing remote employees in cities with strong financial services industries (New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston).
