Job Description

Hilltop Securities Inc. is currently looking for qualified students to join our team as summer interns in Commodities and Structuring with the flexibility to work in our Park Cities – Dallas, or St. Paul, MN office location. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with our Commodities and Structured Finance teams to gain hands-on experience working on a trading floor and providing research/analysis support and marketing support.

 

This individual will gain exposure to commodities and structured finance by working with our commodities business unit  on hedging and investment strategies involving futures, options and other derivatives as well as structured investments.  Candidates will gain applied and firsthand exposure to energy, grains, livestock, and soft commodity classes.  By working with directly with the lead strategist for the commodity business group, the intern will gain applied knowledge of capital markets.  A major component of the role will be working on various modeling and BI projects that will have immediate value to the business group, and supporting HilltopSecurities’ national network of banking professionals, interns will be exposed to a variety of types of client interactions and marketing efforts.

Our Summer 2024 Internship Program is an in-person experience lasting from May 20, 2024, to July 26, 2024, with opportunities located in downtown Dallas at our HTS Tower location and throughout the country at various branch locations.

Essential Functions

  • Work directly with lead strategist to learn about capital markets.
  • Marketing research/analysis, presentations, white papers
  • Applied quantitative financial mdel development inside capital markets.
  • Work with lead strategist on model development.
  • Will work with different types of data sets.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Excellent analytical, verbal, written, communication skills
  • Experience using SQL, Python, Anaconda, R, Excel, and BI (Power BE, AWS, Tableau).
  • Exposure to Bloomberg and large data sets is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Proven self-starter who can initiate tasks and follow up to completion to produce high quality results in a timely manner
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Rising senior or junior studying (but not limited to) mathematics, statistics, economics, , pure sciences, computer science, engineering, finance  or other related fields
  • Candidate must have authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring sponsorship, whether in student status or not
